Role-Playing Rules
Please read these rules before you go into role-playing. These rules are important to how the role-playing works on this forum, how posts should go and how you should act as well. Make sure you understand all of them and follow them with due care.
Rules Regarding Threads
1. Creating a Thread
When you create a thread, you may have different intentions as to what happens with the thread, such as particular people joining it. Should the thread be kept closed to certain people, you will need to state so in the title of the thread by placing it in a tag: [Closed to "Whoever"]. If the thread isn't closed however, then simply use this tag: [Open]. If you wish to have a specific amount of people then use: [Open to "X" people] and simply update as people join to show how many places are left. If you have any specific requirements to your thread if it's open, then make sure you include that in your first post. This may include the quality of the replier.
2. Managing Your Thread
The creator of the thread generally has the control over the thread should it be a straightforward RP. This means that they deal with any problems that arise in the RP and should be the people that sort out any qualms. Should the creator of a thread ask you to leave the thread if you are causing any problems, you are obligated to obey their wishes. If you don't, a staff member will remove you themselves.
3. Thread Inactivity
Should your thread become inactive for a certain amount of time, it helps the staff a lot if you can report that a the thread is pretty much dead and provide us with a link through PM so that we can remove it and generally keep the forum in a tidy condition. Incomplete threads will be moved to the Archives as their lack of completion will not affect the story of the site whatsoever.
4. Thread Completion
When your role-play is complete and the story inside of the thread has come to an end, then you will need to report to a moderator so that they can deal with the thread. Completed threads will become locked and will remain inside their boards as part of the story of the forum.
Rules Regarding Posting
1. Post Content
First rule. If you are to post anything that is considered OOC (Out of Character), then you do so simply by putting "OOC:" followed by whatever comment you need to make. Bear in mind that OOC is to be used simply for questions that are related to the role-play, nothing completely unrelated. Aside from that, all text in a thread is IC (In Character).
The general rules of the forum still apply to this, so there shouldn't be any flaming in any post whatsoever. If you come to a disagreement with another member of the forum, then the argument will be settled by a staff member and a staff member only.
2. No God-Moding
As with the battling rules, we do not tolerate god-moding. Godmoding is the scum, the filth, the bane of the RPing world, and even moreso in the world of battling. What godmoding is, for those of you that don't know, is quite simple. It includes things such as making your character more powerful than they are capable of being. For instance, if you can lift 2 tons with your telekinesis, you certainly can't blow through a foot of steel with it, so don't try.
3. Power-Playing
Ok, I don't even need to go into detail here. Powerplaying is controlling the character of anybody else in the roleplay, without their express permission. Don't do it. Period. Don't even say that they smile with their permission. No. Just don't.
4. Meta-Gaming
A less known term than the two above, metagaming is when your character knows things that it shouldn't. Just because you know things, doesn't mean they know things. If you know your enemy's weakness is fire, then your character, unless they've seen their enemy's weakness from personal experience, does not. Do not break this rule.
5. Proper Role-Playing Format
Please use proper RP format and etiquette. This means using correct grammar when you role-play, or as best as you can use it. When you post, use proper paragraphs and grammar when you're expressing actions. We don't want to see any detail expressed inside such things like this:
*Cloud walked over to the door and opened it to see who was there*
Or,
::Cloud walked over to the door and opened it to see who was there.::
It doesn't look good, we cannot stress this enough, because it just does not look good. When you refer to your character speaking, use speech marks rather than continuously posting your character's name with a colon after it for the speech.
6. Quality
Use a good enough amount of detail when you're posting. As an immediate requirement, we're expecting you to use at least two decent paragraphs when you make a post. This doesn't mean a couple of lines and then a line break or something, it must be a well-developed paragraph. This rule isn't difficult to follow. If you can't meet it, then just give up role-playing altogether.
